Job Summary:
The Tree Inspector is responsible for conducting inspections and assessments of trees within designated areas to ensure compliance with regulations and standards related to tree health, safety, and environmental preservation. This role requires strong knowledge of forestry practices and the ability to accurately identify tree species, assess their condition, and recommend appropriate measures to maintain their health and integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct regular inspections of trees within assigned areas to assess their overall health, structural stability, and compliance with relevant regulations.
2. Identify and diagnose diseases, pests, and other potential threats to tree health, and develop strategies to effectively mitigate these issues.
3. Determine appropriate tree management practices, such as pruning, fertilization, or removal, based on assessment findings and in accordance with industry best practices and local regulations.
4. Collaborate with other forestry professionals, arborists, and stakeholders to develop and implement tree management plans that promote sustainable and healthy urban forests.
5. Maintain accurate records of inspections, assessments, and related data, ensuring proper documentation and reporting to relevant parties.
6. Provide professional advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders on tree-related matters, including tree selection, preservation, and maintenance.
7. Respond to public inquiries and complaints regarding tree issues, providing prompt and effective resolution in accordance with established protocols.
8. Stay updated on the latest developments in forestry practices, tree diseases, and pest management techniques through continuous learning and professional development.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in tree inspection, assessment, and management, preferably in an urban or municipal setting.
3. Strong knowledge of tree species identification, tree health assessment, and common diseases and pests affecting trees.
4. Familiarity with local regulations and guidelines related to tree care, preservation, and removal.
5. Ability to use appropriate tools and equipment for tree inspection and assessment, such as tree calipers, diagnostic kits, or aerial platforms.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, community members, and contractors.
7. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with the capacity to accurately diagnose tree-related issues and develop effective solutions.
8. Proficiency in using computer applications and software for data management and reporting.
9. Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and climb trees or use elevated platforms when necessary.
10. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various locations within the designated area.
